When you have protected a document for other people, you can send it using the communication channel you prefer: email, dropbox, USB, etc. If the user who you share it with, is an internal user and it is already logged into SealPath, this will be able to open it without needing doing additional actions. It happens the same with external users that already have a SealPath account.
When you protect a document for other user that has not registered on SealPath you can send him automatically or on demand an invitation in order he/she register on SealPath. The automatic sending of invitations can be configured in Options -> Contacts: "Send invitations automatically to collaborators".
If the user is already registered on SealPath, he/she will not receive an "automatic" invitations. In this case, the invitation will be always sent to the user even if he/she already has an account with SealPath. To send invitations on demand it is necessary to click on "Invite" (view the image above). To send the invitation you only need to configure the recipients and the text of the body of the invitation if you wish to modify it:
The user will receive an invitation email to signup with SealPath:
If the user clicks on "Continue" he/she will see the following screen where he/she will be able to confirm the registration. In case the user is already registered on SealPath, it will be informed about it and a link to modify the password.
After confirming the account creation the user will see the following screen:
NOTE: For "On-Premise" installations, the sending of invitations will be aware about if the user is internal or external. If the user is internal and has been already registered in the LDAP or Active Directory he/she will be included in the list of internal users in the SealPath's Administration Panel. In the case of external users, the invitation process is similar to the previous one, and these users will be automatically registered in the SealPath's database without needing the IT admin to take part in this process.
